Paradise Koh Yao Resort

Average: $250 per night
I rate it: 4/5

A perfect honeymoon destination, Paradise lives up to its name with its secluded location and overall ambience.

It was quite difficult getting to Paradise, with two boat transfers upon arriving in Phuket.

However, the experience and ambience supersedes the journey.

As it was our first wedding anniversary, the hotel very kindly decorated the bed with beautiful rose petals, which was a nice touch.

The room was spacious, clean and had outdoor seating on a little swing. Everything was very rustic and close to nature, just steps away from the beach.

We pretty much stayed on-site for the stay and ate all our meals at the resort. Food was average, nothing spectacular.

We also went on a snorkelling + kayaking trip arranged by the hotel, and it was rather disappointing. Apart from the murky water which reduced our visibility, the boat could not dock on a beach, so we had to jump into the sea and take a swim, and it was strange that the water was filled with flies. That aside, kayaking amongst the mangrove forests was very nice.

Just two downsides: the spa was below standard and definitely not value-for-money, and the room was filled with mosquitoes at night, it was impossible to sleep. We actually also experienced a blackout as it was monsoon season during our visit!

Overall, quite an experience I must say. Very lovely place for relaxation, I recommend to couples to stay at least 4 nights to truly enjoy the place.
