Blue House B&B

Average: $150 per night
I rate it: 4/5

Just 5 mins drive away from downtown Reykjavik, this guesthouse is in a quiet estate and recognizable from the main street as it is painted in a lovely shade of blue!

We arrived on a stormy night and were thankful to quickly check-in. The room was quite spacious and comfortable, with a view of the neighborhood.

I have to say, the shared bathroom was really huge and luxurious! Flooring was heated and toiletries were nice. There were even magazines for reading in the bathroom. However, the bathtub was directly below a sloped ceiling, so it was impossible to stand and shower. As such, we had to use the bathroom downstairs, which was really basic and not as nice.

The kitchen was well-equipped so guests can make their own meals. But the next morning, we had to look high and low for breakfast as nothing was on display. In the end, we only had cereals. This can be improved.

Also, if I have to nitpick, the stairs were simply too steep so it would not be advisable to take heavy luggage with you to the room.

Overall, good choice for a stopover in Reykjavik.
