Joy Beach Villas

Average: $200 per night
I rate it: 3/5

My first time booking a villa via Airbnb, I was a little hesitant about its location as my last time to Bali was over 10 years ago.

Thank goodness for a wonderful driver we got through a referral, we arrived safely at the beautiful villa in Sanur. It was about 45 mins drive from the airport (in typical Bali traffic).

The villa looked exactly like in pictures, very traditional Balinese, lots of carvings on gorgeous teak throughout. There were 3 rooms and all were spacious. The master bedroom had a partial outdoor bathroom with a rain shower.

Living room was spacious and airy, just next to the lap pool, which was pretty well-maintained.

The attic room was lovely as well, though a little dark after nightfall, and of course the narrow stairs can get a little creaky.

A friendly, soft-spoken lady cleans the villas every morning at 8am, and she can prepare breakfast if you like. She was very attentive and keeps the place real clean.

Sanur is a pretty quiet area while the hustle and bustle is in Seminyak and Kuta, so I would recommend only to travelers who don't mind an hour's traveling to most places. You do have to walk about 15 mins out to the main street where there are some shops and restaurants. There was also some construction ongoing next door and it can get quite noisy in the mornings from the school just opposite the property.

An additional note, as the villa is pretty much in the outdoors, there were some huge lizards all around the villas. My friend also spotted a frog in the master bedroom. Not for those with a phobia for lizards!
