The hotel I stayed at when I first visted Bangkok, I was sorely disappointed.

The location is central but not exactly near the major shopping attractions, like MBK or Siam Square.

In fact, a 20 minutes' walk to the nearest BTS is required, so we took a tuk-tuk around most of the time.

But there is a lot of local flavour to this hotel, which may be what you are looking for.

It is slightly rustic and overlooks the bustling city.

There are many food stalls around the hotel as well, so it is an experience to sit along the streets and people-watch while having some cheap, local food.

I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget and spend most of the time out shopping. Otherwise, give this hotel a miss and opt for one nearest to eg. MBK, like Pathumwan Princess.
