Hakodate is a most beautiful town with great weather in winter. The downside though, is the great price difference between accessible hotels and the not-so.

We took a taxi from the train station cos the public bus only comes once an hour. The journey took about 30 mins and cost almost $50.

Helpful concierge staff who spoke basic English and were able to help with our itinerary and recommend tourist attractions.

From the hotel, we walked about 20 mins to the harbour and a further 45 mins up to the cable car, for an unforgettable trip up Mt Hakodate. Night view was amazing.

Free WiFi only in the lobby.

Good hotel for walking around the city with a few eateries within 10 mins' walk, but would not recommend to tourists with a lot of luggages. We had great trouble lugging all our bags to the train station the next day, a tedious 30 mins' walk.
