Hurtigruten

Average: $100 port to port
I rate it: 4/5

Many people may be familiar with Hurigruten's cruises, but Norwegians also take it as a mode of transport on a daily basis.

I took this twice, first from Trondheim to Lofoten Islands, then from the latter to Tromsø.

Although Finnmarken is significantly bigger than Midnatsol, but both voyages were memorable for me.

Hurtigruten's cruises run into thousands of dollars if you take the 6/12 days voyage, but if you travel between ports and choose to stay the night in a cabin, it is a lot more affordable.

Facilities are of course not comparable to cruise ships, but food is surprisingly good onboard. There is also a jacuzzi on the open deck which is great during winter.

There is a lovely souvenir shop as well, stocking Hurtigruten and Norwegian products.

Cabins are small and basic but beds are comfortable.

I also enjoyed exploring the different decks and going round to see the sights at different times of the day. The views out at night are also magnificent, passing by countless fjords under millions of stars.

I highly recommend taking the Hurtigruten to complete your Norwegian experience.
