I rate it: 3/5
Centrally located on the main shopping street, Laugavegur, it is steps away from restaurants and shops.
The nicest area is actually the lobby, quite swanky and a little opulent. Everything else actually looked quite old,
Thankfully, the room was clean and bed was very comfortable. It came with tiny kitchenette as well which is always great in Iceland. We had a room that overlooked the street and looked right into the apartments across, which was odd. I just did not feel that the name 'Room with A View' was apt. Also, because it is right on the main street, we could hear people chatting loudly and even a couple bickering at the top of their voices. It was quite frustrating.
Another gripe that I have is that our private bathroom is across the corridor, so we were given a separate key for access to it. It was quite strange and I cannot recall any other hotels that does this.
The bathroom was also quite small, albeit nice toiletries.
Overall, I would recommend only for couples or business travelers. If you want a good rest, pick somewhere else as the noise from the streets travel upwards to the rooms. Families should definitely upgrade to a bigger room.
